Day and age. What went wrong?
The Killers have just released their 4th album entitled; Day and Age! It was released on november 24th. However from what Ive heard, the album was supposed to drop on the 25th, But oh well all that matters is that Im now able, to finally get my grubby little mitts on this music "gem". When the album finally came in, I probably resembled an impatient tiger, just pacing back and forth waiting for something to occour. Or in my case, waiting for the album to finish downloading!
The album contains a total of 14 songs including the "Human" music video and the digital booklet, which is packed with marvelous photos!
Ever since their album Sawdust was released,I was mesmorized by what The Killers had to offer. When they first did the remake of the Joy Division song "shadowplay" I was hooked. I was in love with all the wonky pop synths along with the twisted and highly creative guitaring! Not only did I enjoy the music, of course I also loved the members.
Now since the boys have left Sams Town, the rugged and glittery south-western style is no more. Looks like they have remembered how to opperate a razor and have gone back to the sequins and smoky eye liner!
I dont know how I found myself liking The Killers. How did this happen? To some of you that know me, the music that I listen to is focussed on the edgy side.
So, whats my take on their new album?
Well, after having a hot and popular debut album like Hot Fuss, how can you try to revive all the popularity with a second album? Obviously the "fans" are looking forward to the new album from the new bunch of fresh faced kids on the block. However, Sams Town didnt get the best of reviews like Hot Fuss. Although Sams Town was quite successful. Unlike all the glitzy glamour that came along with Hot Fuss, Sams Town was completely different! The sound was more calm but still with the whiny synths in the background. The album, Sawdust followed. Sawdust packed a punch with screeching synth, loud vocals, and coarse, upbeat drumming. Not to meantion that they also were able to create a song wth a major music icon Lou Reed. Lou sang on one of their songs, Tranquilize. And even covering the 70s punk band Joy Divisions song Shadowplay, which turned out to be my absolute favorite Killers song!!
In my oppinion, Sawdust is a great album done by The Killers. If somebody, had recieved a bad taste in their mouths from The Killers, I would have them sample the Sawdust album. And make sure that they listen to Shadowplay. And hopefully that would revive their thought. Even though Hot Fuss Is their most reconized album. Maybe it was all because it was their very first album? But I didnt quite get into all the "fuss" of it. Their hit, Mr. Brightside is a great song. But its not my favorite. And Somebody told me, is my guilty pleasure. I love all that synth in it!!
But what all went wrong with Day and Age?
The signature synth still follows the band, but in more of a twangy 80s form/style. The Killers have always been catagorized in the alternative genre, but with this new album I would have to rethink that. I would consider the album to be in the electronic/pop genre! Since Sawdust carried more of a "darker" sound to it, Day And Age has more of a happy, shallow, jive to it. Not technically dance/clubbing music but more of a softer feminine take to it. Like "date music". (Which is something that Im not too big on.) These guys have alot of potential, They just dont know how to channel it the right way. Or how Ive been going on and on about the Shadowplay sound. If I were to give this album a rating from 1-5 stars, Id give it a 3! The album just didnt give out a lot of...personality!
The Killers have been in the music field for quite some time now, and to be cranking out 4 albums within 6 years is pretty good, I'll give em' that. I will continue to support these guys, even though the album was kinda a dissapointment. Im hoping that the next album (or if there is another one?) will provide lots of rythmic personalitly!
Well, theres my 2 cents on that. If any of you have heard any music reviews on the Day and Age album, Please send them in!! Mucho Gracias!

The best trait of all...Originality.
In my perspective, One of the best traits that a person could carry is non other than originality! Originality means, breaking the mold, coming up with YOUR own ideas and not trying to imitate somebody elses, and being creative!
In life its perfectly fine to be original and unique. Thats what seperates you from the other bland people, who do and follow what everybody else does!
Go out on a llimb, and be creative. So if somebody has already suceeded on something, then you need to be the one to take action and set the new trend! Remember, if its already been done then its "so yesterday"! Oh, and by the way nobody likes copywright issues!

a furry fiasco!
Looks like The Killers have done it again! But not neccessarily in a positive way...Not too long ago, (well, October 4th to be exact.) The Killers made an appearance on Saturday Night Live (SNL) to perform their new debut single entitled, Human. Brandon Flowers appeared on stage, wearing a jacket with feathery attatchments adorned on the shoulders. Yeah, it definetly sounds odd. In a matter of fact, I actually got to see their performance through the t.v screen! So yes, this "statement" jacket believe it or not, does exist. I found this jacket to be very different. It reminded me of something seen in the chronicles of narnia!
Not long before their performance was even finished, people began to question whether or not this jacket was humain. (no, thats not a typo! Look it up!!) By humain, I mean whether the jacket was "Animal Safe". Pretty soon a little animal rights group by the name P.E.T.A (some of you may have heard of this. P.E.T.A is actually a HUGE animal rights group. Some other celebrities that P.E.T.A has accused for wearing fur, are Beyonce' and even J-Lo!) got word of the furry incident! Of course P.E.T.A was furious. Like they always are when fur is involved. P.E.T.A was demanding an explanation, But the killers reps. surely werent speaking.
In the meantime, The music video to Human was released shortly after the "fur scandal". You might think that having a mob of animal rights activists after you, would surely scare you. And you would probably learn your lesson? In the Human music video, Brandon Flowers is again seen wearing the controversial jacket! Gutsy move there! More and more people were asking questions, and they werent answering them!
To add insult to injury, lately The Killers have been posing poshly wearing non other than fur. But this time its not Brandon-Its their guitarist Dave! See, with Brandon and Dave its a '"monkey see-monkey do" relationship. They are basicly irrseperable. Both Ronnie and Mark arent pictured wearing fur, But dont think they will be getting off the hook easily. They are now guilty by association! Hmm...why else would that be? I have seen the photos, Im not going to lie I find them to be very nice!!
Now it looks like the tables have turned. The Killers are now speaking. On their website Brandon has happily answered by saing "No animal was butchered to make my jacket." Well, there ya have it! In the end everyone has left the scene without being harmed. If you want a better visual of the jacket, watch the Human music video! I also have these spectacular photos if you would like to have a peep at them! ;)

Rock the vote!
With the election getting closer and closer, more clebrities are choosing to endorse a candidate. Some of the celebrities endorsing Barrack Obama include: Drew Barrymore, Beyonce', Jay-z, Shakira, P!nk, George Clooney, Brad pitt, Angelina Jolie, Sheryl Crow, and many many more!!
And some of the following celebrites endorsing John Mccain are...Heidi Montag, Miley Cyrus, Daddy Yankee. Know any of those guys?? Yeah, well me neither. Although I do know who the flip Miley Cyrus is!
Not too long ago, alternative/rock band The Killers announced that they would "Be happy" to endorse Barrack Obama. Whew! what a relief! Good for you boys! (When I first heard this, I was stunned. I was like, these little boys have got brains!")
I find that extremely odd, for them to be open and give the media their political view on things. The Killers, in particular are definetly not opposed to politics. Usually in every one of their interviews, they always say Quote: "We really dont like to get into that too much." But can ya blame em'? Politics sure do have the tendancy to divide and seperate people all because of political differences. But in this Day and Age, looks like you really got to speak up!!!
: No word is confirmed on wether or not all four members are supporting Obama.
:If you are curious about how I found this awesome tidbit of information, do a Google search and look through all the pages. Untill you find something similar to this. There are multiple pages on this topic! keep me updated.

May I have your attention!
-Hey there! If you havent already read my profile, and if you already have, As you know I am obsessed with the rock band The Killers! Im a Killers junkie!!! Recently I just watched a halarious youtube spoof on The Killers! If you are familliar with Jimmy Kimmel the commedian, then you will definetly get a kick out of this! Go to youtube and type in THE KILLERS ON JIMMY KIMMEL SKIT. Its about why The Killers have that killer name for their band. However I would only recamend this to killers fans and people familliar with their music! Obviously, these guys definetly arent actors, so that tends to be a bit cheesy at times! But still its pretty darn good. Oh My, they are gorgeous. The funniest character in it has got to be Ronnie! Its definetly a safe video!
And, for those of you who are on the more edgy side of things and still enjoy The Killers, then I would recamend this video! This ones called THE KILLERS; HOW FUNNY ARE THEY? This video in particular has a bit of a language issue! Language just doesnt seem bother me, I actually find it quite funny at times. (definetly with these guys!) But it may offend you in some areas. In my oppinion I would suggest both videos. And if you are feeling darring or bold, then GO FOR IT!! Once again Ronnie is the character-pay close attention to Brandons voice. You might possibly crack up like I did!
Enjoy! (And if you do end up viewing these viodeos, PLEASE by all means let me know what you think of them!)
